We have launched EMLAP (Early Modern Latin Alchemical Prints) – a digital corpus of Latin alchemical prints from 1500–1650 created at the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences within the TOME project. Transcriptions from Transkribus and metadata are supplied by the institute together with the CCS lab of the University of West Bohemia. On top of them we built the web application from scratch – transcription import, search, catalogue and page viewer.
Search covers the text of every page, and separately the main text, header, footer and marginal notes. It finds an exact phrase, the start of a word or similar forms, and results can be narrowed to selected books. Every hit shows a crop of the original scan with the word highlighted, and each result opens the whole page – a zoomable scan with the transcription next to it.
We keep developing the application. How it works inside is described in the reference. If you need advanced search in your own data, get in touch.
