BYTY Západ
The website of a Plzeň real estate company with a property catalogue, a map of listings and Hlídač Rex, a watchdog that e-mails listings to buyers. We took over development in 2025 in full operation. After a code audit, we focus mainly on the catalogue with its shareable searches, property pages and listings for search engines.

A takeover in full operation
First a list of risks and a plan, then a catalogue you can share by link and search engines can find.
BYTY Západ is a family-run company from Plzeň that has been on the market for almost 20 years. Besides real estate services, it manages properties and offers cleaning. Its website runs on WordPress: listings arrive from the RealManager software, visitors search them in the catalogue and on the map, and Hlídač Rex e-mails them listings matching their saved search. The design comes from the previous supplier.
We took over development in 2025 in full operation. We started with an audit of the theme and plugin code: we listed the risks, outdated functions and readiness for new PHP versions, with a plan for the order in which to address them. We then prepare changes on a copy of the live site, including its data.
Most of the changes concern the catalogue. The selected filters are written into the URL, so a search can be shared by link and the Back button goes back one step. Instead of a pop-up window, every property has its own page with a title and a sharing preview, and filtered listings such as flats for sale have titles and canonical URLs for search engines.

From RealManager to a buyer's inbox
An agent enters a listing in the RealManager real estate software. The website receives it, adds it to the catalogue with everything the filters need and shows it in the results and on the map according to what the visitor has in the URL. Whoever saves a search gets listings by e-mail from Hlídač Rex.
Five areas the takeover started with
From a list of risks in the inherited code to a catalogue that keeps the search in the URL.
-
Audit of the inherited code
We went through the theme and plugins and listed the risks, outdated functions and readiness for new PHP versions – with a plan for the order in which to address them.
-
Filters in the URL
Every combination of filters has its own URL. A search can be sent as a link or bookmarked, and the Back button returns one step, not to the start of the search.
-
A page for every property
Instead of a pop-up window, a property opens on its own page with a title and a sharing preview from the first photo. Links from the results and the map lead straight to it.
-
Listings for search engines
Filtered listings such as flats for sale have a properly worded title and a canonical URL without extra parameters, so search engines do not see the same listings under many URLs.
-
jQuery version 4
The site's scripts are built on the jQuery library. We prepared them for its version 4 and, to do so, replaced the plugin for pop-up windows with our own solution.
How the project runs today
We look after the whole system
Together with the website we took over what the previous supplier built – the import of listings from RealManager, the map and Hlídač Rex. We look after them just like the parts we added ourselves.
Changes go to a copy first
We look after the website's code and its development. We prepare every change on a copy of the live site, including its data and listings, so we can test it before visitors see it.
